Description On Monday, August 17, 2009, CFANS OIT will begin the installation of the Acrobat Professional 9.1.3 patch for CFANS computer systems that currently have Acrobat Professional 9.1.2.
Process SCCM will be used to install the Acrobat Professional 9.1.3 patch. The installation will occur in the background with no interruption to service.

Description
On Friday, July 24, 2009, CFANS OIT will begin the installation of Firefox version 3.5.1 for CFANS computer systems that have not already upgraded to this version.
Process
SCCM will be used to install Firefox 3.5.1 update. The installation will occur in the background and may require a restart of Firefox if it was open when the installation began.
Explanation
Updating Firefox to 3.5.1 addresses some security risks in 3.5 and brings with it some new features and faster browsing.

On Friday, June 26, 2009, CFANS-OIT will be updating Thunderbird e-mail clients on Windows to a minimum version of 2.0.0.21.
Process
Users are asked to log off their computers at the end of the day (rather than shutting them down).
SCCM will be used to update your Thunderbird e-mail client to version 2.0.0.21 remotely while you are logged off of your computer. This process will begin after 6:00 p.m. on June 26, 2009 and continue until complete
Explanation
This is mainly a security update and should have minimal impact on your experience using Thunderbird. If you are currently using a newer version of Thunderbird than 2.0.0.21, your machine will not be updated.

Maintenance Description CFANS server patching and maintenance for June will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2009, between 0600 and 1200. On Friday, June 12, 2009, CFANS OIT will begin removing the "2007 Office Compatibility Pack" from CFANS computer systems that have Microsoft Office 2007 installed on them.
Process
SCCM will be used to remove the compatibility packs. The removal will occur in the background with no interruption to service.
Explanation
Computers running Microsoft Office 2007 do not need the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack, which was designed to allow Office 2000, XP, and 2003 to read Office 2007 documents.

On Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., CFANS OIT will be delivering Adobe Reader 9.1 remotely via SCCM (Systems Center Configurations Manager) to CFANS computers connected to Active Directory. Reader will be installed only on computers that do not have the latest version of Reader installed and have no version of Adobe Acrobat Pro. Adobe Reader 9.1 has been approved for use on the Grants.gov site. Attached is a list of computers that will be affected by this update.
