All advertisements try to manipulate us to buy their products. Many ads use positive things to advertise their products by using famous actors or actresses, or using attractive women to sell something sexy or appealing (alcohol, perfume, etc..)

The advertisement I found online (Go to this link ---->>> http://www.flickr.com/photos/duvalguillaume/2360107161/ to check it out) uses a negative image to make us want to buy their product. The ad used a man in a full body cast to sell bicycle helmets. The advertisement agency's purpose was to show that the man was wearing a helmet because his head was not covered with a cast. Since he was wearing their helmet, he was not killed, but the rest of his body was injured. If we wear their helmet, then our head would be protected for injuries.

In regards to Classical Conditioning that we learned in class... CS (helmet) --> UCS (uninjured head but the rest of the body is in a cast) --> UCR (We are happy that our head wasn't damaged in the accident) --> CR (If we wore the helmet, our heads would be protected from harm.)... I hope I got that right!

If you want to look at the website where I got the picture from go to this website http://spyrestudios.com/hilarious-print-ads/ The ads are really funny.

The link didn't work for me but it sounds like a very powerful ad and a great idea on the marketers part!

If you copy and paste the link into your web browser then it should come up.

This advertisement definitely creates a response when you see it. It has a little bit of a shock value because of how intense the injury is. It took me a few seconds to realize that the head was not covered because it was showing that the patient was wearing a helmet when the injury occurred. This is a successful advertisement based on the response it gets from its viewers.

The ad is pretty hilarious as are the other ones they listed on that website. The image definitely has an alarming response to it as the man's entire body, with the head exception, is covered in a cast. I think this also might work great for a government ad trying to get more people to wear helmets while biking. It could read, "Good thing Fred was wearing a helmet, because they were all out of head casts."

The first moment I saw the picture I did not really understand it until I noticed about the helmet. The man is severely injured all over his body except his head (because he wore the helmet~! Lol).Actually I think you can just copy and paste the picture with your blog.Anywy, great advertisement you choose for this blog.

Cool ad! I think this is more operant conditioning principles than classical conditioning. Antecedent=Bike accident Behavior=Wearing a bike helmet Consequence=Not hurt, an example of negative reinforcement?

I can see why a lot of advertising is targeted towards younger generations. I remember as a kid watching tv when commercials would come on for these amazing new toys like moon sand or whatever, I always wanted them because they looked so cool.
