This week's definition: Leadership is having good communication skills. Flexible communication skills are coming from understanding the others, and it would be helpful to achieve their goals as well as building great relationships.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: The article by Saphiere, Mikk, & Devries gave various examples of communication styles. Although there are differences of cultural and communication types like Mike and Tanaka, if they understand and change a little of the way they speak, they would find out mutual benefits. I think that there is no exact answer for great communications skills. Great communication can be build by being open to hearing others' goals and by sharing our goals and the logic or realities driving them with one another (Saphiere, Mikk, & Devries, 2005, p.60).

This week's definition: Great leadership is necessary to have intentional changes by learning and developing new experiences and relationships.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: For this week's definition, I do not want to change the definition. The article, "The transactional leader", stated that people working with others having different culture should try to understand the culture. "When you have a very diverse team - people of different backgrounds, different culture, different gender, different age, you are going to get a more creative team - probably getting better solutions" (Ghosn). Moreover, he mentioned that people need to create new products and develop new solutions even though it is risky. This is similar as the last week's definition. Leaders need to learn and develop from new experiences from cultures or backgrounds. It would help all have better outcomes.

This week's definition: Great leadership is necessary to have intentional changes by learning and developing new experiences and relationships.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: I really like this week's definition about having intentional changes. I think that not only leaders but also any person should learn and get involved with any new activity. A learning orientation arouses a positive belief in one's capability and the hope of improvement (Boyatzis, 2006, p. 615). Moreover, relationships always make us learn something. Relationships both meditate and moderate our sense of who we are and who we want to be (Boyatzis, 2006, p. 617).

This week's definition: Leadership is not a privilege for only one person, but shared responsibilities. Leadership also shines more when accomplishments are made by working with others not individuals.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: This week's definition is more about team focused leadership. Leadership should have these characteristics such as supporters, helpers, and partners. Leaders must all share the responsibility of processing any shared group experience to make it a conscious process as a team (Komives, Lucas, & McMahon, 1998, p. 191). Leadership cannot be successful without other team members, leaders always should communicate with team and have a bond with them.

This week's definition: Leadership can be defined as ability taking care of all the people without prejudices or judgments of their cultures and customs. Leaders should be able to see people in the world regarding a system of advantage based on race.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: I think that this week's definition is similar to last week's definition because like I mentioned last week, leaders should set aside their personal thoughts and feeling when they treat their people who have different race and cultures. They had better not think of the definition of racism like forms of oppression but realize a system involving cultural messages and institutional policies and practice (Tatum, 1997, p. 7).

This week's definition: Leadership is having the perspectives that are taking everything as a whole. Leaders should have skills as an observer by getting rid of their inner feelings or thought when they look overall.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: I defined the characteristics of leadership for last week's definition. I think that this week's definition is more related to the skill of leadership. Leadership needs various skills such as communication, coaching or mentoring, the observer skill is also necessary skill for leaders. I think that great leaders have the ability that having one eye looking from the dance floor and one eye looking down from the balcony, watching all the action, including their own (Heifetz & Linsky, 2002, p. 54).

This week's definition: Characteristics of leadership, especially servant leadership, come naturally or are developed by efforts.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: According to the article, by Barbuto and Wheeler, servant leadership is characterized by a belief that leadership development is an on-going, life-long learning process (2007). Some leadership skills such as empathy and stewardship come naturally. However, listening, foresight and persuasion are developed skills. Leaders should be committed to learning and developing the skills so as to be improved as a leader.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: Like the article, Leadership in a (permanent) crisis, shows, people tend to be with close friend and people who have similarities. My result of StrengthsFinder shows that I have talented relator theme which means I prefer working with close friends. However, after reading the article, I need to challenge more and experience wider. If I do not engage the widest possible range of life experiences and views, I risk operating without a nuanced picture of the shifting realities facing the business internally and externally (Heifetz, Grashow, & Linsky, 2009, p.68).

Analysis of the differences in the definition: Comparing to the last week's definition, the leadership needs to the ability to have ethical decision making by overcoming the ethical dilemmas.
This week's definition: After reading the article by Goleman, I want to add that there are specific types of leaderships. All the leadership has different types, so each different leadership influences working environment.

Analysis of the differences in the definition: I learn that leadership styles can change the work atmosphere in a positive or a negative way. According to Goleman, the styles appear to have a direct and unique impact on the working atmosphere of a company, division, or team, and in turn, on its financial performance (Goleman, 2000, P. 2). If leaders manage and solve a problem, they need to handle it with positive leadership styles.
