Orientation and Technology Literacy
At the University of Minnesota, all incoming students receive welcome CDs that give an introduction to the resources available at the university. The CD also comes with instructions for initializing a students' email account.
In addition, first year students also receive an orientation booklet that gives information about the portal, OneStop, getting online on campus, locations of computer labs, purchasing computers on campus, using email, and safe computing. During orientation itself, students also get some time in computer labs where orientation leaders make sure that students have initialized their email and are familiar with the portal and other technology resources on campus.
