Library Teaching Fellows Program

This August, the University of Minnesota libraries and the Center for Teaching and Learning sponsored a library fellowship program. A primary goal of this fellowship program was to support faculty, instructional staff, and teaching assistants in designing courses with thoughtful components of information literacy. This program was being pilot tested this fall; hopefully, it will be offered again in the near future.

Winona State: MnSCU's laptop campus

Winona State also has a laptop program. New this year, students may choose a tablet PC as one option in the laptop program.

To support the building of technology literacy, Winona has several online resources for students and faculty.

One program, the STARS program, involves peer tutoring in tech literacy. The STARS tutors have also created a set of online tutorials called Knowledgebase. These tutorials help people with simpler elements of tech literacy, like adding a signature line to email.

Faculty at Winona have a separate program, called eLearning, to support their own technology literacy.

Innovation Researchers on Campus

Innovation Researchers on Campus, iROC, is a new club whose mission is to "join together to promote new ideas and change in the area of technology on campus." For more information, or to join, visit their website.

Two interesting things about iROC is that they plan to have regular meetings to demonstrate/showcase new technologies and they also have an iFellows program that will give support to early adopters to come up with innovative uses for various technologies.
