Congratulations for organizing a very useful abd relevant symposium for professionals from developing countries. I hope this will enrich our thinking about the relationship between science, technlogy and development in various sectors.

For your country/region?

Basic needs assumed met--US
Environmental sustainability (global ecosystems)
Everyone with opportunity for contribution (meaninful work)that increses desires and capabilities.
Needs taken care of for everyone above basic survival level such as health coverage for all

For humanity?

Basic needs met (education, healthcare, human rights, food, shelter, freedom of expression, political voice, meaningful work)

Environment--ecosystems operating sustainably

Increasing opportunities for self-fulfillment

For country/region:

My vision for the United States is for it (as an entity) and for those who call the U.S. home to attain increased awareness and understanding of other societies that are both similar and dissimilar to our own in such a way that the bridging of diverse ways of being occurs and thus empowers all with whom we interrelate to be tolerant (in word and in deed) of others.

For humanity?

Same

For yourself and family?

My vision for myself is for me to reflect upon, acknowledge, and put into action all the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that I possess that can help bridge cultural difference in the world at local, regional, and global levels.

For all of the above, combined?

Increased cultural awareness as embodied in appropriate intercultural behavior by all through an openness to others and an accompanying willingness to change and adapt.

Excellence in education to transform my state (Behar in India) into a progressive society.

For humanity:

Well-beingness.

For myself/family:

Happiness and togetherness.

For all of the above, combined:

To realize human potential in capacity of a member of a family, nation, and a global society.

For my county/region:

--To become ethical and just consumers who take responsibility for the extranality and unseen cost of consumption.

--To realize that militant patriotism is equivalent or worse than militant Islam.

--To come to understand that if one strategic interest puts limits on the human rights of others this action is not really in our own interests.

For humanity?
--To define success based on service to others rather than the accumulation of capital.

For self and family?
--To exemplify 1 and 2.

For all of the above, combined?
A sense that global and human citizenship calls for responsibility to includes individual, community, region, country, and civilization care for all their members.

--That the Caribbean and Latin America become more integrated.

For humanity?

--Peace and tolerance

For yourself and your family?

--Become more global citizens of the world. Understand more about other cultures. What's happening in the world. In their terms more open-minded in order to get better in the global village.

For all of the above, combined?

--A world of peace, where information can be more spread in order to have a comprehensive understanding of each other.

--cut defense spending by 1/4th
--accountability
--taxation for those who have
--empowermnet in health, education, infrastructure, like roads, etc
--environment

For humanity?
--less conflict
--less exploitation
--less inequality
--less discrimination

For yourself and your family?
--To be able to pursue happiness, freely
--Go through various phases seemlessly
--Be able to prosper and enjoy various phases of life
--Develop greater understanding (respect eacch others' perspectives)

All others, combined?
-Pursuit of happiness is seen as a right, not a privilege

Basic human rights established for all--without any discrimination.

For humanity?

Shared power would protect the fulfillment of human rights.

For yourself and your family?

Being active participants in the work of extension of human rights for all. Be of some use for humanity.

For all of the above combined?

All live empowered, in a world free from injustice, discrimination, and inequality.

For my country/region?

That South Asia will harness its immense human resources and equitable development.

For humanity?

That we realize that our progress and betterment lies not in violence and destruction and domination but in collaboration and cooperation.

For yourself and family?

That my family grows to be committing citizens of the world, respectful of the environment and of other humans around them.

Combined?

That we understand ourselves better.

Beautiful stable and prosperous country, equality of men and women.

For humanity:
Soundly integrated sense of equality and respect.
Society well learned from history and conscious to live in harmony.

For myself and family:
Living peacefully
Living passionate and affectionate life--to live longer

Combined:
Socially, economically, politically and environmentally safe world
World without threat

For your country or region?
For my country (nation state) to disappear as an entity. (separate, of course, to the appreciation of other cultures).

For humanity?
Basic needs such as food, clean water, shelter, healthcare and education are provided to everyone, and everyone has the freedom and ability to imagine and implement visions of their own, to benefit humanity, in an environment absent of greed.

For yourself and your family?
To have community - including innovative schools, green spaces, no poverty, active neighbors... To focus on helping others. To have basic needs met. To continuously learn, for learning's sake.

For all of the above, combined?
A healthy world where the goal/emphasis is on acquisition of knowledge and wisdom, rather than money and power; where the focus is on the benefit of all, rather than oneself.

The US became a respectful collaborator in the world. US citizens invested in seeing hte world from the points of view of others.

Peace, freedom from fear and want. Freedom to make choices for ourselves, our families and our communities.

I participate in the promotion of respect and understaning, locally and internationally.

My vision for my country/region: Higher levels of education. Easier access to opportunities. Increased knowledge about opportunities.

Humanity: Greater equality/equity. Less hunger in the world. (Less
violence.)

Myself and family: Greater respect for all of cultures within humanity.
Less focus on materialism.

All of the above combined: Increased knowledge about possibilities in life. Increased access to those opportunities while maintaining positive health and welfare for all people.
