What is Justice

Hi! My name is Emmy Ciabattoni and I am from Prior Lake, Minnesota. I enjoy running, yoga, Zumba, and travelling. I ran a marathon this summer and hope to run more! I love being active and eating healthy. I chose this picture because it was taken during one of my Cross Country races. I really love to have fun and am passionate about everything I do. The team was really close and we were like family!

Screen Shot 2012-09-08 at 4.34.59 PM.pngI believe that justice means receiving what's deserved. It doesn't seem fair all the time because not everyone is treated exactly equally; rather advantages and benefits are given to those in need. The world isn't 'fair', so we can't treat everyone 'fair'. People are born with disabilities and weaknesses that many times call for accommodations. These disadvantages and other exceptional circumstances can put a new perspective on a situation that may seem straightforward. My dad fought for justice when he saw a small puppy being kicked. The puppy was innocent while playfully pulling on the leash. The owner kicked the dog and even after my dad asked him to stop, he continued. My dad went to the police hoping that authority could push for justice for the little pup. Once the officers explained ticket fines the angry man stopped. Although the puppy was an animal, he was still a living creature who deserved to be treated with respect. My dad has inspired me to fight against even small everyday injustices.
