Celebrating Environmental Action Across Minnesota

We'd like to join in voicing our congratulations to the six awardees as well as the nine other finalists in this year's Minnesota Environmental Initiative Awards!

As the Center for Integrative Leadership has exemplified through events such as our 2009 green economy conference, environmental and energy issues provide fertile ground for integrative work. At the heart of each of the 2011 MEI awardees' profiles is individuals reaching across difference in neighborhoods, towns, and cities across the state for a healthier, more sustainable environment for future generations of Minnesotans. I encourage you to take a few minutes go read and be inspired by the their work.

A unique aspect of this year's awards was that the Minnesota Environmental Initiative ran them through the InCommons.org Challenge Platform. This helped MEI stir up interest in the awards among a much broader pool of nominators and voters. Over five hundred community members voted online for the 2011 Partnership of the Year! The Public and Nonprofit Leadership Center at the Humphrey School also found it was able to reach new audiences by using the Challenge Platform for its Local Government Innovation Awards earlier this year.

Does your organization currently run challenges? Or have you thought about running a challenge but the logistics seem too overwhelming? You might consider InCommons.org as a space to run your challenge. For more info contact: info@InCommons.org
