Facebook, Twitter and YouTube by now are well-known to most Americans, including many children. Shayla Thiel-Stern, an assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, says parents should think hard about what is an appropriate age for their kids to participate on social media sites.
Young adults are the recession's lost generation. The unemployment rate for them is the highest since World War II, and they risk living in poverty more than others. University of Minnesota economics professor Christopher Phelan believes the term 'lost generation' may be a bit of a "hyperbole." Still, Phelan says the trend definitely exists.
