On April 21, the University of Minnesota will award an honorary doctorate to one of its own, Kate Millett (BA English, '56). Millett rose to national prominence with her 1969 book, Sexual Politics, in which she called for a movement "toward freedom from rank or prescriptive role, sexual or otherwise."
Many workplaces require employees to work at a set time and place, but U of MN research found that practice isn't ideal for health. Sociology professor Phyllis Moen and associate professor Erin Kelly led the study, which surveyed Best Buy employees before and after the company implemented a new training method focused on increasing work flexibility.
