May 9, 2010 - May 15, 2010 Archives
The May CLA NOW meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, May 13 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. in the Minnesota Population Center Seminar Room (50 Willey Hall)
This month we invite you to come EARLY for treats & socializing before the meeting! As you already know, the Intersections Project won a yellow ribbon at the 2010 Quality Fair. The prize money was used for a celebration for the project group but with the leftover funds we thought we would provide an express breakfast for you! It's our way of thanking you for testing the system and providing valuable feedback to make the system a success. We will have the room open at 8:30 a.m. for you to enjoy donuts, fruit, coffee, milk, juice and conversation before our meeting starts. We will start the CLA NOW meeting promptly at 9:00 a.m.
Thanks to all who have completed the University's 2010 Pulse survey. CLA's response rate is pretty good, but could be better. An improved response rate for CLA would provide stronger, more meaningful data for us and the University. As you know, VP Carol Carrier has sent several emails to the University community encouraging participation. As we enter into the final two days of the survey, we ask for your help in encouraging faculty and staff in your unit to participate. The deadline for the completing the survey is Friday, May 14. Thank you.
The new CLA base pay rate for graduate assistants will increase by 1% to $17.93/hour. All graduate assistants may receive up to a 1% salary increase for FY11, based on the unit's performance criteria established for graduate assistants. The new rates will be effective June 7, 2010. Remaining funds from the 2% compensation pool will be used to cover the increased cost of graduate assistant's tuition benefits. Graduate assistants are not subject to the temporary reduction in pay or the mandatory furlough days.
This is a reminder that the UM Foundation invoicing deadline for June TIP is May 13 at noon. Please invoice as early as possible in the event of questions or if you need to locate an authorized signer. TIP is calculated on each Fund DeptID (z-level) Rollup, and charged on deficits greater than $15,000. Contact Rose Pederson if you have questions about invoicing or TIP.
the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, part of the College of Liberal
Arts (CLA), as recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Unit Award. CAPA presents
this award each year to a unit that it judges to be exemplary in its support
of P&A staff and the critical role P&A employees fulfill in supporting the
University's mission.
According to CAPA, the application of Theatre Arts and Dance stood out for several
reasons, including the impact P&As have on the department, the relative equality that
P&As have with faculty, the opportunities P&As have to participate in
University, college, and departmental governance, the P&A merit review
process, and the professional leave opportunities afforded P&As.
