The University has developed a new online
reporting system for Workers' Compensation claims. It was created to help
make filing Workers' Compensation claims easier, and ensure timely notification
to University departments positioned to help the injured employee. The new
system is available online at https://webapps-prd.oit.umn.edu/froi/index.html . The electronic First Report of Injury
(eFROI) requires no specific training, and uses the familiar 'x.500' log-in
procedure. The best practice is for the supervisor to complete and submit the
eFROI. The First Report of Injury form should be completed within one business
day of notification of an incident, and the Supervisor Incident Investigation
Report form should be completed within three business days. The Office of
Risk Management and Insurance will continue to support the paper version.
Please share this information with all supervisors so they know of their
responsibilities. There are important steps involved with a work related
incident. Supervisors should familiarize themselves with the policy and
procedures found at:
http://www.policy.umn.edu/Policies/hr/Benefits/WORKERSCOMP.html.
If you have any questions, please contact your CLA Human Resources Consultant
(Margaret Yzaguirre or Wendy Lane), or the Workers' Compensation Area Claim
Reporting Contact designated for the Twin Cities area.
