UNIVERSITY WINTER CLOSURE (12/24/10 - 1/2/11)

CLA buildings will be identified as "Non-Active" during these 10 days.  Non-Active is defined as:

-No planned events/activities

-No services to faculty, students, staff or outside communities

-Buildings will be locked; key and card access only

-Temperature reduced to about 65 degrees

-Limited snow removal with only emergency exits/stairs to be cleared

-Minimal campus security staff

-Minimal facilities (custodial) staff on site; daily walk through

-No parking staff other than pre scheduled events

-U.S. mail will be held for the majority of the campus

 Please remember to set up your autoreply email and voicemail messages, and also remember to change departmental general phone and email accounts to indicate the closure

 You have reached.........,  due to the official University of Minnesota winter closure, this office is closed and will not be responding to email/voicemail, Dec. 24, 2010, through Jan. 2, 2011. No services will be provided during this period.  (optional:  This closure is a University cost savings measure.)  If this is an urgent matter that cannot wait until after January 3, please call 612-624-9839 where messages will be checked periodically. CLA administration will be closed during the University's winter closure period of December 24 - January 2. Safety or building problems should be reported immediately to 911 or 624-2900. Urgent matters that cannot wait until January 3rd should be directed to 612-624-9839.  This particular voicemail will be checked once a day on December 28, 29, & 30.

Unit specific information and deadlines for CLA Administration are as follows:

External Relations:

UM Foundation will be open Dec. 28-30.  Regular gift processing will take place during this time.  If you need to reach someone at the Foundation, please call 612-624-3333. Please make certain all gifts on hand have been deposited by the end of day on Thurs., Dec. 23.  Please include all envelopes to anything that is sent to the lockbox.

Fiscal Administration:

December 22 is CLA Payroll's deadline for spring appointments.  Those receiving printed paychecks will have their 12/29 paycheck mailed to the home address as it is listed in the system on 12/27.

Information Technology: 

CLA info tech professionals will be monitoring the networks and can be reached for critical outages and issues at 612-624-4357 or help@cla.umn.edu.

Web Content Updates: The last day to request web content changes before the winter closure is Dec. 21. Requests submitted after Dec. 21 will be completed the week of Jan. 3, in the order received.

Planning and Space: 

Buildings will be locked and will require key or card access, snow removal will be done for one entrance to building, temperature reduced to about 65 degrees, and no custodial service.  Building problems (evidence of break-ins, broken pipes) should be reported immediately to 911 or 624-2900.  CLA emergency contact is Scott Elton (cell phone #612-423-0683).
