Relocation Assistance Program: Job Search Workshop

The following message is from the Relocation Assistance Program.

(Please load images) University of Minnesota, Driven to Discover

As your new faculty and staff are settling into their labs and offices, they are also settling into their new homes and lives. Among other things, that probably means assisting a spouse or partner in finding a job.

To facilitate the job search process for the spouses and partners of recently relocated new faculty and staff, the Relocation Assistance Program (RAP) is sponsoring a workshop entitled:

Conducting a Job Search in the Twin Cities
Thursday, September 20, 2012
9-11:30 a.m.
215 Donhowe Building, East Bank campus
319 15th Ave SE, Minneapolis

The workshop will focus on helping spouses and partners learn how to identify potential places of employment, conduct informational interviews, and make contacts through networking. Workshop participants will also have the opportunity to socialize with other new Twin Cities residents and job seekers and to learn more about metro area events and attractions.

If you would like the spouses/partners of your new faculty and staff to be part of this workshop, please forward this email announcement to them.

Please RSVP by September 14 by sending an email to raprequests@umn.edu or calling 612.626.0385. For additional information, contact Mary Everley, RAP director, at 612.626.0775.

Stay Informed on Policies

Please consider subscribing to the list serv so you'll stay informed about policies, and upcoming changes to policies. You and many within your unit will need to know the polices and any changes to them. Anyone can subscribe by sending an email to: policy@umn.edu

Web Team Transition Continues

The Web Team transition continues as Karen Swoverland begins a leave on Wednesday, September 12.

As always, continue to contact the Web Team with requests by emailing 4help@umn.edu.

However, be aware that some requests may take the Web Team a little longer than usual to complete. Adding a deadline to your request will help the team prioritize work.

Due to the staffing shortage we ask that you pause requests for new larger projects, including website redesigns.

During this interim period, there is a team of staff from CLA-OIT and Media and Public Relations who will be overseeing and supporting the Web Team's work. Should you have broader questions, Colleen Ware, from CLA Media & Public Relations, is serving as a point person for questions and can be reached at warex005@umn.edu.
