Resource for Advertising Job Postings

The College now has a membership to the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits which can be used for advertising job postings at no additional cost to individual departments. Here are instructions on how to create an account and job posting.

 

To create an individual account and connect it to CLA's membership, please visit: https://online.mncn.org/mcnssa/censsacustmast.insert_page.

Fill out step 1 with your information. In Step 2: Employer/Organization, click on the icon to search for your organization. If you type in "College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota" in the Organization field - CLA's member profile should be the only choice that pulls up. The member number is 2019103. Select the organization and move on to Step 3.

Once you have an account set up, you should be able to click on Nonprofit Job Board on the top menu bar. Click on Post a Job Opening on the left side of the screen. Under the Members section, click login and post a job.

CLA HR Staffing News

With the snowstorm last Thursday and cancellation of the CLA NOW meeting, we missed the opportunity to introduce you to our newest CLA HR team member, Laura Dawis. Laura joins us from the College of Pharmacy and has both many years of HR experience and knowledge of our University specific systems. Please join us in welcoming her.


Also note that Laura has taken over the leave of absence and compensation analysis work previously handled by Norma Beasant. We held our own going-away gathering for Norma and thank her for her support around the Z-term project, job family roll out, leaves and more.

Lastly, Kimberlee Mueller is out on leave with a projected return at the end of May. In the interim, Kara Tacheny has agreed to take on greater responsibilities in supporting the recruitment process. We will be back-filling her work at the front desk with a temporary staff member next week.

Scholarship Entry Timeline

You may now begin entering scholarship batches for Summer 2013.  Note: Summer 2013 batches need to be entered in Aid Year 2013.

The first financial aid disbursement for Summer 2013 for undergraduate and graduate students is scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2013.  Scholarships must be entered before 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 6th to be included in the initial summer disbursement.

You may also enter scholarship batches for Fall/Spring 2013-2014. Note: Batches for Fall/Spring 2013-2014 should be entered for Aid Year 2014.

The deadline for entering scholarships to be included in students' initial financial aid award notices for Fall/Spring 2013-2014 is Friday, June 28, 2013.

9 Over 12 Pay Schedule Deadlines

If you have faculty who are making the switch to or from the 9 over 12 pay schedule, please give them the Memorandum of Agreement to sign, then forward the completed form to your financial service team by 5/24/13

If you have faculty who are on the 9 over 12 pay schedule but will be on an unpaid or partially unpaid leave this upcoming year, it is imperative that you give that information to your financial service team so that the associated payroll documents can be processed to avoid over-payments.

Interim Chief of Staff During Leave

The following is a message from the CLA Chief of Staff, Jennifer Cieslak:

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to let you know that Scott Elton will serve as interim chief of staff during my upcoming FMLA. I am expecting a baby in late June and am planning a 12-week leave.  Scott and I have begun to work together to ensure a smooth transition in the chief of staff work and to ensure a smooth transition as Dean Parente concludes his service as dean and the college prepares to welcome an interim dean. Consistent with my chief of staff responsibilities, Scott will also provide interim leadership for the college's Media and PR team during the period of my leave.
