I should be working- but what's new?

So it is relatively late and I am still at my office. I agreed to meet a student at 4:30 on a friday. You know I have no life. I've just been asked to be a discusant for Loic Wacquants paper on Carnal Sociology. I'll post Carnal Sociology later. I'm fairly excited to meet Wacquant as I've heard he's a unique individual and he worked with bourdieu.

I'm done wasting time and my sunburn is really itchy.

Burn, Baby, Burn

This weekend my little brother got married. What a great time. My new sister-in-law is great and I haven't seen my brother so happy in a while. The wedding was in California so Matt and I flew into LAX and rented a convertale to drive to Long Beach (where my bother and his wife live and where the wedding was). We had a great day so we stopped at mannhatan beach and walked the shore and then drove PCH all the way to LB.
I've been completely covered from head to toe since september (trying to stay warm), so I didn't even think about sunscreen. When you glow in the dark, sunscreen is a must. Somehow I forgot to use sunscreen. I believe I recieved second degree burns on all of the exposed skin (including the top of my head. Not just the part- the entire head). I was quite the sight for the native Calilfornians. I heard many comments about the crazy North Dakotans and sunburns. Apparently Minneapolis is in ND. I was not aware of that. I didn't bother to correct most people and tell them that I haven/t lived in ND for over 14 years, but whatever. I itch and burn and can't wait to finish pealing. I went to california and all I got was a lousy tan (and some great times with my family)

Another way to waste my time

Crap! I knew this would happen. New technology may make some things easier, but it aslo allows me new ways to waste my time! I've already spent too much time and I don't like the way this blog is looking.

Hatred for Blogs

I have ranted and raved about me deep distrust and dislike of blogs/blogging/personal webpages or anything else that give people too much infromation; about myself. But, I've learned to change my mind. I'm attempting to blog, because it seems like it will be an important tool for teaching. So, this blog is a practice page that may or may not in the future contain any interesting content. I have started to realize that while this is publically available, I doubt anyone is interested enough to actually read this. Especially, since nonone knows I have a blog (thought they could find it easily, why would anyone look?
