I am sure many of us have seen this cartoon and can relate to it tremendously. Between grades, money, sleep, and a social life, there really just is not enough time. College is stressful. How we deal with our stress can be a problem- especially college kids.
College is known for drinking, smoking, "freshman fifteen", and living of ramen noddle's and pizza. However our lifestyle to cope with our stress and be a college student actually adds to our stress according to the book. The book talks about to be less stressed one needs to live a healthy lifestyle. The four healthy behaviors suggested are; stop smoking, less drinking, achieve a healthy weight, and exercise. Majority of college students reading this would say "ops". Reading this is almost a bit humorous don't you think? I mean the average college student is not only living in stress but also making it worse and doing the exact opposite of what needs to be done to achieve a stress free life.

This is one of my favorite (well actually least favorite) triangles. It is oh so very true and even more interesting that the book mentions that several of the stereotypes that college students are known for doing are exactly what the text suggestions NOT doing. Very interesting how you related this iconic triangle to the text.
^^^^To elaborate on the comment above, maybe the book does a good job at listing the stereotypical problems that create this stressful lifestyle because the book was actually written by UofM psychologists. This fact that the authors are from the U, one might suggest that the report on why college students lives are so stressful not only relates to the general college student population, but UofM students especially. Overall, I think it's extremely hard to balance good grades, enough sleep, and a good social life. To put it simply, it sucks...
I enjoyed your post because of how it relates to mine and every college student's life. I also really liked how you added money into the Big Three. Although this is not a constant issue on college students minds (for most) as the other ones, it is still very important. College seems to be a time when we are the busiest we will ever be, while also having the most free time we will ever have. It's all about how we use this time.
Could a visual be more true? After my first year of college I don't think so. I always thought that people just needed to find a better balance between the three but in reality you can only have two. very interesting how you pointed out that college students are always complaining about stress and then we don't do the clear fixes the book points out.
I really like how you related the triangle visual to the book with the stereotypes and what college students need to do to have healthier lifestyles. Everything that you stated relates to how I live. Especially the triangle seeing as that you really can only have two of those things at one time. you can juggle then at different times but it always comes back to two.
