Since 1978, Materials for the Arts has provided thousands of New York City's arts and cultural organizations, public schools and community arts programs with the supplies they need to run and expand their programs. Materials are gathered from companies and individuals that no longer need them and redistributed to the artists and educators that do. In the process, hundreds of tons are removed from the waste stream every year and kept out of landfills, helping to sustain our environment and promote reuse and waste reduction. MFTA helps artists realize their visions, provides students with a richer educational experience and furnishes businesses and individuals with a simple and efficient way to enhance the cultural life of their city.
The success of MFTA and its programming would not be possible without the participation of material donors throughout the metropolitan area. If you are interested in donating your unwanted reusable items to MFTA please visit our Donor page or call 718.729.3001 ext. 207.

was founded in 1972 to support contemporary artists working
in the visual arts, including video, electronic media, performance,
architecture and design. The mission of Artists Space is to
encourage experimentation, diversity and dialogue in contemporary
arts practice, provide an exhibition space for new art and artists,

Exit Art is an interdisciplinary laboratory for contemporary
culture that explores the rich diversity of voices that continually
shape art and ideas. Since its founding in 1982 by curator
Jeanette Ingberman and artist Papo Colo, Exit Art has presented
the work of over 2,500 artists and has grown from a pioneering
alternative art space, bringing attention to the work of
under-recognized artists, into a model cultural center for the
21st century. With a substantial reputation for curatorial
innovation and depth of programming in diverse media, Exit Art's
exhibitions, performances and programs respond to culturally
resonant themes, empowering artists to redefine their artistic
sensibility. Exit Art is internationally recognized for its unmatched
spirit of inventiveness and consistent ability to anticipate the newest
tendencies in the culture. A place where different disciplines and
audiences converge and cross-pollinate, Exit Art is a key site for
excavating the unwritten histories of contemporary art and culture.

The Drawing Center has been a unique and dynamic part
of New York City's cultural life since 1977. The only
not-for-profit institution in the country to focus on the
exhibition of drawings, it was established to demonstrate
the significance and diversity of drawings throughout
history, to juxtapose work by master figures with work by
emerging and under-recognized artists, and to stimulate
public dialogue on issues of art and culture.

As an artist and filmmaker, the complexity of childhood pulls me in for another look. For several years I have investigated the idea of self as it is constructed through language and communication in early childhood. This study continues. In my newest work, I have discovered the distortion that occurs with childhood revisited. Bearing in mind the power of costumes, rituals, and environments, narratives develop around the relationship these have to my subjects. My own experiences are measured throughout these assessments.

Some of my digital video projects also include a wide range of environmental examinations. These focus on the influence of the day-to-day and profound effects of what we take in mostly unaware.
