Mary Tyler Moore Statue

At the corner of Nicollett Mall and 7th, there is a statue of Mary Tyler Moore. This is a different type of art than we have studied, but I think statues of famous people are one of my favorite types. I always feel a different emotion when I see these. If it is someone I know, I usually think back to the first experience I had with the person, whether it be a live encounter, or simply watching on TV. This form of art creates a feeling of familiarity and comfort. It can also create a sentimental feeling, knowing that you are viewing something special to you. With the Mary Tyler Moore statue, many can relate to the scene after the opening credits where she throws her hat into the air. Every time one walks by that work of art, a feeling of familiarity, comfort, and sentiment can potentially be felt.
