Much of what I explore in my work comes from my origin as a Colombian, as a person who grew up surrounded by collective festivities and social differences, passion and apathy, fantastic myths and cruel realities. Stemming from my interest in socio-cultural conflict and human rights abuses, my artistic research is mainly focused on the ideas of healing and reconciliation. Since I believe that the process of healing starts with a personal and intimate analysis of ourselves, I incorporate into my work domestic elements and daily or traditional activities such as eating, cooking, knitting and playing. Through various media such as photography, installation, performance and urban interventions I pose questions about the individual’s place in societies and the role individual and collective memory plays in the healing cycle.
