Professor Holmes, the editor of the recently published Greek New Testament: SBL Edition, will discuss current controversy over the goals and objectives of New Testament textual criticism. Topics to be discussed may include: the on-going discussion of text-types and textual history; the shape and future of critical editions; NT textual criticism in the context of Jewish and Hellenistic literature; and doing NT textual criticism in a post-modern context.

Professor Holmes has provided a modified version of this chapter (see PDF below) which he will summarize and highlight in 25 minutes or so, leaving ample time for interaction/discussion with CNES colloquium participants.
