ATLA maintenance notice

ATLA (American Theological Library Association) plans to perform routine maintenance on ATLA systems (article database) on the first Monday of each month beginning at 5:30 p.m. starting in October 2006. Although we do not expect this regular maintenance work to interrupt access, it is possible you may encounter a brief interruption of service between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (CST) this coming Monday, October 2nd. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

Acta Sanctorum Are Coming!

The Libraries are arranging to purchase the electronic Acta Sanctorum (Acts of the Saints), the encyclopedic hagiography published by the Societé des Bollandistes from 1643 to 1940.

This work is a core resource for research into church history, Medieval Europe, art history, religion and theology. The electronic version is fully searchable and allows researchers to create their own text collections based upon their individual interests.

We'll keep you informed about the arrival of the electronic Acta Sanctorum.

POxy (Oxyrhynchus Online)

As reported in the September/October 2006 issue of Archaeology,
POxy (Oxyrhynchus Online) offers an indexed online database of 50,000 papyri fragments rescued from an ancient garbage dump in the Egyptian city of Oxyrhynchus. Previously illegible texts are revealed using multispectural imagining techniques.
