Reduced-Price Tickets to Minnesota Opera

$20 tickets are available to students for the upcoming productions of Silent Night and Werther through the Opera's new Project 20-Something.

Silent Night (composed by Kevin Puts, Libretto by Mark Campbell) is a world premiere which draws much of its dramatic material from Joyeux Noel, the motion picture by Christian Carion.

The fascinating true story recounts a miraculous moment of peace during one of the bloodiest wars in human history. On World War I's western front, weapons are laid down when the Scottish, French and German officers defy their superiors and negotiate a Christmas Eve truce. Enemies become brothers as they come together share Chistmas and bury their dead. Sun in English, German, French, Italian and Latin with English translations projected above the stage. Running time, including intermission, is about 2 hours, 12 minutes. $20 tickets (for seats valued up to $120) are available for the performances on Saturday, November 12 and Tuesday, November 15. For the November 12 performance, several additional perks are offered:

To order these tickets, call the Minnesota Opera Ticket Office, Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm, at 612.333.6669 and be prepared to give your complete contact information, including email, phone number and birth date.

Werther (composed by Jules Massenet)

Overflowing with yearning and heartbreaking melancholy, Massanet's most romantic tragedy is inspired by a true story of unrequited love. The passionate James Valenti returns to star as Werther, the idealistic young poet who cannot live without love. Roxana Constantinescu, who dazzled audiences as Cinderella, returns as the object of his obsession, Charlotte. Sung in French with English translations projected above the stage. Estimated run time, including intermission, is 2 hours. $20 tickets (for seats valued up to $120) are available for the performance on Saturday, January 28.
