week 12

I feel that a lot of the things we have been discussing have been applicable to my site. The frustrations that have been expressed in class I can identify with, but I do feel that I am having a good experience at my site, and truly learning about community service. Even if it isn't always organized, which I have often found out it isn't. As the semester goes on, I have somewhat of a different perspective of community service. I can't decide if my service has been that helpful.
I feel that this course focuses more on writing tools and keys than on the large issues that are happening in north Minneapolis, which would be helpful in relating to our sites, like where the people are coming from. More current issues could be brought up, so it focused more on the area that we are all working in at the present moment.

Project Takeback

Things at my site are going very well. I have not been in awhile, just due to scheduling differences. We still have been in very close contact with the leaders. Meg and I are planning on going to the league games this weekend. We are very excited! Even though we weren't there, the start up apparently went very well. I am still a little nervous to have the direct contact with the gang members, especially since I am so used to hanging out with the leaders, such as Kahbeer and Jimmy, who have been extremely nice and accepting to Meg and me. I hope that the next few weeks don't go by to fast because I will miss the experience.
