Postive sanctions- are rewards
Negative Sanctions- are Punishments
Formal Sanction- are inforced by legal authorities like the police.
Informal Sanctions- are informally applied in the course of our day to day interactions with other people.
I also have a question concerning the Quiz. What chapters is it going to cover? Our homework was to read ch 4 and 6 for this quiz I believe but in class we only covered Ch 4. So is the quiz only going to cover what we have cover in class which would be chapter 4 or will it be on all of our readings?

I actually think about this each time I get my nails done. All of the employees are Vietnamese and they are continuously speaking Vietnamese. It is one time that I actually feel like the minority and wonder what they are talking about.
SYMBOLS-Anthing that meaningfully represents something to human beings.
The nail salon decor is made up of Bhudda's, Vietnamese calendars and they play music videos that the main person is Asian. If any music is on the radio it is Asian as well.
SUBCULTURE-Smaller culture that exists within larger culture.
I look at all of these employees and see that they chose to come to America. They have been educated and licensed in what they do. They follow American business laws and taxes, they treat their customers like the American culture but they also will have holidays with their traditions in either Asian restaurants, or in someone's home. They do this as a group, as seen in photos from the traditional holiday and by my inquiring about the tradition.
