Missing Thrush

Oh, Karin, where art thou--wading through the dregs of an uninspiring summer session? The blank page is unnerving.

Indeed, the "minimalist" aesthetic can be a little threatening.

hm, and i just checked this on a whim.

what, is the Nothingness haunting your Being?
It's the missing 200 francs!

Fine, so here's the current contents of my mind:

(1) thank god the determinant of the inverse is the reciprocal of the original determinant. now i can finish my proof.
(2) i have a headache. i need sugar. i think.
(3) i hope my subject doesn't fall asleep. i hope the experiment doesn't crash.
(4) after tonight's exam i will be free, free, free...

I feel I should reply:

1) Nothingness ALWAYS haunts my Being.

2) Gee, I sure could use that extra 200 francs

3) Was the reciprocal haunting YOUR determinant?

4) I don't think, I know. You NEED sugar. Trust me.

5) Best wishes on tonight's exam, and its contingent freedom (quite a Badiouian notion you have going there, by the way).

"Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, I'm free at last." Your persistance has prevailed! Hope you have enough "recovery/renewal time" before Fall semester.

When I checked your blog and found the blank page, I was drawn--perhaps compelled--to post "words". So, do you think this is a manifestation of my compulsion to "fix things"? Perhaps this is a reflection of an underlying insecurity. And blah, blah, blah....

John, then, with your wit and infinite wisdom, did indeed initate the creation of "something" out of nothing. Bravissimo!

I love it!

Oh darn, I wish I had "spell-check" for these postings. I really do know how to spell initiate.

Incidentally, Karin, since you know what the "determinant of the inverse" is, are you prepared to take on the "determinant of the Universe"?
