One can purchase a big bucket of the dismal, processed LARD in our local Super Wal-Mart--not that I have. Grandma cooked with bacon grease--good in her homemade bread, but weird in cake and pie crusts. Sure do remember her white cake, with that haunting bacon flavor, and strawberry jam between the layers. And, Grandma would send Uncle Rex to the store to buy more of that really good canned soup--gravy!

Wonder what these people think of PAM?

you ate gravy as soup???

Oh, dear. I was talking about MY Grandmother Whitford, not your Grandma. Yes, Grandma Whitford ate gravy as soup. I remember her as being short and quite "round." She lived to be 87 and didn't die of heart problems--go figure.
