Dionysis-River-Apollo

Just had a really good composing session at the Urban Bean... got a lot written on the Brian Sacawa sax piece, plus fleshed out some non-musical ideas about it...

One thing in particular that I got written down were some text descriptions of the three types of sections that I'm going to put in the score for the player to read, as an aid to interpretation. Here they are:

- Deep Dionysian Volcanic Explosions, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Tornadoes slamming blades of grass inches into telephone poles, Suicide bombers tearing the Universe Apart!

- A River weaves swiftly through Sequoiah- and Quaking Aspen-covered mountains. Golden leaves flow serenely along her surface; a wild, deadly undertow awaits the irreverent.

- Meditative stasis. Deep listening. Apollonian timbral exploration.

I love the overall image of Apollo and Dionysis separated and mediated by a river with aspects of both!

Losing My Sister

I just awoke from one of the worst nightmares of my adult life; I hope I never lose my sister. I love you Heidi.

Just Musing

Happy.

Life's easier lately.

That's all. Just simple. Loneliness not so present. Friends' faces more of a joy. Very weird to be subject to this. Ah well, so it goes.

Was awarded the GRPP grant for the summer. Friggin sweet. Hahaha :)

I don't know... just felt I should write something.
Smiles.
