Leaders of different organizations and cultures around the world coming together to create new possibilties sounds very much like step toward creating an innovation society.

The description and guest list of the gala reminded me a bit of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". However the fact that this group seeks out and goes to great lengths to celebrate successful innovators is a remarkable feat. What I find more intriguing, though, is that they start by searching out people who have developed innovative products or ideas and then transmute those innovative abilities and accomplishments into seminars and discussions that look at world issues from new angles. So it becomes an innovation spiral - innovators beget innovative perspectives on topics outside their original accomplishment. This then makes space for recognition next year of new innovators who will subsequently become part of the spiral. I found it gratifying and exciting, but felt very removed from it. It's a bit too glitzy for me to feel that the impact will make it's way down to my level. I hope to be proven wrong someday!
