Thanks for Help with the Friday Flood
Walter Library was flooded on Friday night. The cleanup required the removal of all the materials on the bottom shelves of the entire foundation level. This massive effort involved handling almost a mile of books and removal of the furnishings. The staff that responded did a tremendous job, all while kneeling in wet carpet and working around Facilities Management staff, who were extracting carpet and removing stack ends. Some folks came for a hour and others were on site for twelve hours, with the last book moved at 10:30 pm. All gave up part or all of their weekend plans. Their hard work, endurance and teamwork was amazing.
I particularly want to thank Kristia Davern, who stepped in to organize the systematic removal and relocation of the materials on three floors of the library, while I was on route back from Wisconsin. She did an amazing job.
The following staff and student staff were part of the moving team: Arnold Ringstad, Megan Lounsbury, Katie Otto, Janice Jaguszewski, Mike Sutliff, John Butler, Rob Strnad, John Jeffryes, Jason Roy, Tony Ihrig, Barb Smith, Allison Danzl, and Christy Newell. If I missed someone, I apologize. Please contact me so I can add you to the list.
