Today was very quiet. I had three patrons check out books, but otherwise I mostly had questions about where things were.
It was a very quiet night at the basement exit, probably due to the weather. There were not very many questions but the most popular question of the evening was regarding the bathroom location. Overall nothing major came up and it was a good night!
The night was a consistent stream of direction questions and assistance with the uniprint station, but no major help projects that took more than 10 minutes. The typical value port, bathroom questions and the always famous "can you make change?"
Only insident I had was a patron who came up and kept talking to me and talking to me and later asked for a courtesy card because he didn't have change and wanted to copy a newspaper article. I didn't see a newspaper so I told him I didn't have any down here right now, but he might try upstairs. He never did go upstairs so I hope I made the right decision.
Today was fairly slow. I had mostly directional questions, but I felt I was a great help to a patron who needed help making copies and to another patron who had no idea how to find anything in the Library system. There were no disturbances or strange behavior to report.
My time tonight at the basement exit was pretty quiet. I only had a few general questions such as: where is the bathroom located or how do I put cash onto my u-card? Overall it was a good first night and everything went smoothly.
Sorry that there has been a delay in getting back to you all about this: we've been experiencing technical difficulties!
After 8pm when Reference closes, the Basement exit person can log guests on with the guest user name and password at your discretion. Keep in mind that the purpose of the guest logins is for research, and users need to follow the Libraries computer use policy.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
First night down at the basement exit went pretty well. The place was a ghost town for the first hour, but around 7 questions came in fairly steadily. A lot of people were looking for change or where they could put cash on their ucard. Had to help someone with microfiche and help another locate a few periodicals. A lot of small questions from people new to the library came up like where the bathroom was, where ciruculation was, how late we're open. A fairly smooth night with no incidents.
The only question I would have is the computer policy after 8 when reference closes. I refered the patron to open access computers, but they would not let him onto his e-mail so I sent him up to circulation. Is that what we should be doing or are we going to be able to guest logins on periodical room computers after 8?
