Sunday Night 1/31/10

A relatively quiet night here at the basement exit.  A patron who I seem to see here every night I work brought his two little girls in and the group of them monopolized the public access computers for the better part of the night again.  I had no requests by others to use them so I didn't say anything.

The only out of the ordinary thing that happened tonight was the high volume of patrons looking for change.  I had at least six patrons ask if I could make change for them.  I told them the nearest place would be the parking ramps, but I'm not sure if that's 100% true.  I know that we don't have money here for only 3-4 hours at night, but an official "closest place to make change" list would be nice to have on hand, especially for when midterms come around and people are in a rush to turn in last minute papers and the like...

But on the whole it was a quiet night.

Hi Matt,
Great issues you bring up, again.

I followed up about change, and one suggested solution is to recommend that students add value to their cards via the web.

We'll keep you posted if we have any more information on the issue.
Thanks!
Jackie

... just an addendum: the URL for adding money to one's copy card via the web is printed on the gold flyer on top of the Value Port machine. Patrons should probably know that they'll be charged a $2 fee for the online transaction...
