Tuesday Evening

The evening began with an utter failure on my part to remember that the Fall schedule was in effect; at 6:09 PM, I remembered that I now worked at 6 on Tuesdays. I called the sick/late number, told Becky that I'd be a little bit late, and pedaled furiously to the library. I ended up getting here around 6:20. Profound apologies to Megan, who I was supposed to have replaced at the basement exit at 6:00.

The rest of the evening was much less hectic. There was a question about library hours, a re-filling of Tray 3 of the Uniprint machine, and a request for a recommendation of a good study space in the library (All from the same person!). A few patrons also used the three-hole punch and the stapler at the desk.

Also, fairly early in the shift, a patron using one of the computers near the Government Publications room was letting his young kids watch cartoons on YouTube on the adjacent computer. Though they were wearing headphones, I could still hear it all the way from my perch at the desk. I approached the patron and asked him if he could turn the volume down; he muted it instantly and left shortly thereafter.
