I had an interesting patron at the circulation desk today. Apparently he found a couple books in a "discard" bin in the sub-basement. The books were also marked "discard" by a stamp. However the buzzer went off when the patron decided to leave, and after explaining the situation to me I decided to keep the books and take down his name and email, so someone more official than myself can decide whether he gets the books. He was very compliant with this idea. I also received what I believe may be the first carrol return of the semester. I set the key on Charles' desk. Other than that, it was a quiet night. Everything went fairly well today. Amanda called in sick so Jessica had to readjust the schedule accordingly. During the first two hours of circ there were several problems with the uniprint stations; however, by 11:30 I believe the system was back up and patrons were able to print. There was also a lot of shelving to do; not all of it was finished but I'm confident that the Sunday crew will be able to finish it throughout the day. There were no difficult situations with patrons or any other incidents among the library staff.
Pretty quiet night here at the library, nothing too out of the ordinary to speak of. I switched Matt's schedule a little so he shelved third his last hour instead of second. One truck for third was just loaded.
