Now that the weather has changed in Minnesota, what is there to do to keep active and to embrace the cooler weather? Fresh layers of snow bring excitement and joy to the native Minnesotans. It means it's time to bundle up and get out enjoying many of the wonderful activities there are to do in the winter months.
One of the most popular and festive events, at this time of year, is the Holidazzle Parade in downtown Minneapolis. This is a nighttime lighted parade and a great to cap off a day of shopping on the Nicolette Mall or to begin your night before dinner downtown. The parade is in its final week, so, get out and enjoy the event before it's done for the year.
Another holiday tradition is the Macy's 8th Floor Holiday Display at the store in downtown Minneapolis. The event uses animated puppets to put you into the holiday spirit. At the end of the display, kids will have the opportunity to see St. Nick and let him know personally their Christmas wish list.
For the sports enthusiast, there are many different sporting events to attend in person or watch from your favorite watering hole. The Minnesota Gopher Men's Basketball and Hockey teams are both nationally ranked and draw tons of fans for their events. It's a great way to get out and show your school spirit. On the professional side, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Minnesota Vikings are both young and exciting teams to watch.
Outdoor activities don't stop in the winter. All of the local downhill ski runs are now open and soon, many ice skating rinks will be and ready for you to enjoy. If you like to ski at a more leisurely rate, there are many cross-country ski runs around the Twin Cities metro area.
