Carlson School of Management Web Redesign Project

Visualizing the Carlson School's Global Reach

Happy New Year! The next time you visit our school, you may notice something different in the atrium.

During the holiday break, we hung 30 international flags from the catwalk to illustrate the Carlson School of Management's global footprint. The flags are of the 29 countries in which our school has an international program location or a partner school with an exchange agreement, in addition to the U.S. flag.

We at the Carlson School have long recognized that to be successful in business, we must understand and engage with the world. We were one of the first U.S. business schools to offer an executive MBA degree overseas. We have a strong tradition of education and research in international business (IB), with our doctoral student alumni setting the standards for IB teaching and research worldwide. More than 1,200 Carlson students have participated in study abroad just in the past two years.

The creation of the Carlson Global Institute last fall was meant to consolidate and showcase our commitment to global business education and research. These flags are a visual celebration of our commitment.

I hope the flags serve as a daily reminder of how important the international experience is to our students, to our faculty, and to our economy as we continue to expand our global reach.

Not to worry - we have left room for more flags!
