The Minnesota Cup and Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship launched two new programs this year to encourage more women to get involved in entrepreneurship and enter the Minnesota Cup.
In March, the Minnesota Cup hosted its inaugural Women's Event held at the Carlson School of Management. The event focused on specific challenges and opportunities women encounter each day as entrepreneurs. The second program is SPUR, a series of events hosted by women business owners and leaders offering insight and advice to women students on career options.
These new initiatives are paying off! 34% of our applications for this year's Minnesota Cup are women-led teams and this number jumps to 45% when including entries with at least one female team member. We are excited to see what Minnesota Cup women bring to the innovation table!
