Minnesota Cup Semifinalist Reception Celebrates Companies Advancing to Next Round

Last week, the Minnesota Cup hosted the 2014 Semifinalist Reception at the Carlson School of Management. Over 250 guests were in attendance to celebrate the 70 companies advancing to the next round of the competition. Guests included companies, judges, mentors and local business leaders.

The event began with networking and a social hour where companies were able to connect with judges and mentors. Next up was Biz in 60 Seconds, a new feature for the Semifinalist Reception, where companies had a chance to pitch their ideas to judges and other attendees. Each company was given 60 seconds to tell the audience about the product or service that they would be taking to the next round. It was a fun way to connect the company with the people behind it!

The evening concluded with an information session for semifinalists on next steps in the Minnesota Cup. It began with a presentation from Joan Moser of Spoken Impact, who shared insights on creating and delivering a winning presentation. The remarks continued with an overview and instructions for the Minnesota Cup mentor program by John Stavig. Scott Litman, co-founder of the Minnesota Cup, concluded the presentations with information on the next round of the competition.

A big thank you to our sponsors for supporting the 2014 Minnesota Cup, our review board, and our mentors for making this all possible.

A special thank you to Cafe Inc for providing semifinalists with a free one-month PRO membership to Cafe Inc's new proworking space in Edina.

We are looking forward to an exciting competition. Congratulations again to the 70 semifinalists!
