Hi everyone
I hope that I was successful adding all of you to the blog as users. Please post an entry with your writing goals for the week.  Also if there is a topic that you are interested in discussing soon, please post that as well.  Finally, keep an eye out for workshops at the library on how to use databases, refworks, and other dandy programs.

Have a good weekend.
Jigna

Ok, so my goal for the week is to revisit the abstract that I have submitted to the Population Association of America (PAA) conference. Last week I was encouraged to submit something to the PAA. I figured a poster would be the easiest, so I took what I think will be a chapter of my diss, ran a few tables of what I think will be some data, made a couple of hypotheses and called it an abstract. So now I want to revisit that and see if I can step back and outline what I think the chapter may look like and how I can use the poster session to gain some feedback on the ideas.

Sorry, the above post is by Seth

Hi all,

My goal for the week is to revisit my research and writing from the summer to starting putting together abstracts for conferences. The two conferences I am considering for abstract submissions are the American Comparative Literature Association and the Association for Asian American Studies.

Sorry -- the above post is by Eun Joo.

Hi everyone,

My goal for the week is to continue working on an outline of my prospectus (new writing, not revisions) and to make appointments with both my advisors.

Charlotte

Hi, I just realized that I should have done this BEFORE the week was up (for the most part) but, my goal was to begin writing a paper I'll be presenting in three weeks. Last week I wrote an outline and now I have four pages (completed during this work week). I hope that these pages, and this conference paper, will turn into a dissertation chapter--to be shared towards the end of the semester.

See ya'll tomorrow-
Naomi

My goal for this week was to write the "significance" section of my prospectus, as well as make a list of fellowships that I'm interested in applying for and their due dates.

Best,
Jessica

My goal for the this week is work on literature review and have some kind of a draft (a conversation starter) ready by next Wednesday.

My goals for this week are to write the abstract and background sections for my DDF proposal and to generate at least one new paragraph for the paper I will workshop in mid-November. My goal from last week was to draft two new paragraphs for the paper, which I'm happy to say I was successful in completing, even if they're awful.

Hi All-
I will finish my DDF by the deadline, and post it!
