Lee Jorgensen (BS Architecture, 2006) has temporarily stopped practicing architecture to work with the city of Pendleton, OR through an AmeriCorps-funded program called Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE). RARE is working on an sustainable energy solutions initiative for the community. The goal is to create enthusiasm and support for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects at a residential level by developing a program that provides underserved community members with the necessary educational, logistical, and financial resources to become more energy independent.
