"Drivers often ignore signs unless they're looking for information," Kathleen Harder (Center for Design in Health) told Matt McKinney writing for the Star Tribune. McKinney's story is about traffic tickets issued in Minneapolis at intersections where left turns are prohibited during rush hour. Regarding the traffic signs indicating the prohibited left turns, Harder tells McKinney, "A lot of people think it's just a slam dunk, uncomplicated thing. But anytime you're presenting information to a driver, it's fairly complicated. The question becomes how can you design it in a way that people can grasp it?"
