McCarthy asks "Who's responsible?" in eye blog post

Steven McCarthy (Graphic Design), in a blog post for eye, recalls his experience at the Responsibility in Graphic Design conference in Katowice, Poland "concerned with 'responsibility in political, social, and religious aspects of design; equality and tolerance; disabilities and dysfunctions; ecology; education; and historical context.'" Where better to discuss the ethics of design than the industrial city of Katowice; as McCarthy notes, "of the past 70 years -- roughly a lifespan -- Poland spent 50 under Nazi occupation or Soviet oppression."

McCarthy goes on to challenge the upcoming Response_ability: Ethics and Sustainability in Design Education conference to consider responsibility in a much broader context, reaching beyond graphic design.
