The Cloud: A summer design-build project

This past summer Benjamin Ibarra-Sevilla (Architecture) led two Architecture students, Joshua Grenier and Kirk Mazzeo, in a design-build project. The Cloud is a temporary pavilion constructed in Saint Anthony's Silverwood Park for the purpose of providing a shelter in which to teach children about arts and nature.

The prototype was entirely hand crafted. All the structure members are made of half-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes. The fabric was manufactured according to specifications forming the complex geometry, which is generated by parabolas and circumferences.

An opening will be held at Silverwood Park on Friday, September 17, 2010, 5:00-7:30 p.m. Brick oven pizza and drinks will be provided.
