Retailers have traditionally seen today, Cyber Monday, as the kick-off to the online shopping season. With that backdrop, we're offering our alumni, friends, and the public at large an opportunity to give back, as we officially launched this morning our two-week, $10,000 online fundraising campaign: The Gift of Shelter.
Across our college, students and faculty have been working with Habitat for Humanity to provide for those in need. Our architecture students designed the first Habitat for Humanity Zero-Energy Home, which was officially dedicated late last month. They are also in the planning stages for future projects with Habitat. Retail merchandising students are working with Habitat's Restores to figure out a better, more profitable way forward for their national chain. And our housing studies faculty are advisors to the University's student chapter of Habitat.
All of this socially responsible work takes time and resources. We hope this fundraising campaign will give our students the funds necessary to build on their successes in the past and help create a better future for those they help through their work.
We'll provide updates on our efforts throughout the week and I will keep you posted on our outcomes, but none of this would be possible without your hard work. Thanks for your dedication to our students and the community. To find out more, please click here.
