Katlyn Myrvold Creates Tattoo-Inspired Mailing for the U of M Foundation

Are you looking for a better way to show your pride? Try giving a gift to the University of Minnesota. That's the approach senior graphic design major Katlyn Myrvold used when the University of Minnesota Foundation challenged students in Angela Wang's Graphic Design II: Identity and Symbols course to design a direct mail piece for over 9,000 households.

Myrvold wanted to surprise people with something unexpected. "The tattoo wasn't my first idea," she explained, "but I said it half jokingly during critique and people seemed to like it." Positive but cautious critique from the Foundation encouraged Mryvold to move forward with the concept. You can follow her design from brainstorming to finishing touches on her blog.

Myrvold will spend the next six months working as a graphic design intern for 3M's Global Design Lab in St. Paul developing creative, memorable, and interactive experiences that showcase 3M technologies.
