This award honors and recognizes the most outstanding examples of shopping center design and development, sustainability, marketing, and community service worldwide.

Santa Monica Place, located in Santa Monica, California, was transformed by Rogers from a traditional enclosed mall into an open-air destination that celebrates the cultural and geographic openness of Santa Monica. "This center is an exceptional representation of the best in the industry for state of the art practices, setting it apart from the rest of the retail real estate industry," said Michael P. Kercheval, president and CEO for ICSC.

Rogers joined The Jerde Partnership, Inc, a visionary architecture and urban planning firm, in 1988 and is now a Senior Vice President and Design Director. He is credited for designing many of the firm's most innovative and award-winning projects. Rogers believes the key to sustainability is creating and inventing lasting urban places that celebrate the human spirit and enhance quality of life.
