Dear Adam, Fellow French Alumni and current French students,

What a happy surprise to receive this e-mail today!! I graduated from UMD in 1969 with a major in French and a major in Spanish. I can not tell you of the countless times I have been so thankful for my French studies in Duluth. Two of my French professors that I think about often are Jacques Comeaux and Yolanda Jenny. I learned so much from them.

Every day I use my French. Today we had an order from a neurosurgeon in French Polynesia. My husband and I travel every year to France and the French-speaking portion of Switzerland. I am the President and Owner of Rochester Electro-Medical, Inc. which manufactures neurodiagnostic equipment. I do all of the translating and interpreting for our company. My husband graduated from the U.of M. - Mpls. branch and is a bio-medical engineer.

I will be contributing to Mr. Kovacovic's scholarship fund, although I did not personally know him.

Thanks for the update.

Amicalement,
Alayne Berkins
