Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants Reminder

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) invite applications to the Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants program. This program is designed to encourage innovations in the digital humanities. By awarding relatively low-dollar grants during the planning stages, the goal is to identify projects that are particularly innovative and have the potential to make a positive impact on the humanities.

  • research that brings new approaches or documents best practices in the study of the digital humanities;
  • planning and prototyping new digital tools for preserving, analyzing, and making accessible digital resources, including libraries' and museums' digital assets;
  • scholarship that examines the philosophical implications and impact of the use of emerging technologies;
  • innovative uses of technology for public programming and education utilizing both traditional and/or new media; and
  • new digital modes of publication facilitating the dissemination of humanities scholarship in advanced academic as well as informal or formal educational settings at all academic levels.

AERA Grants Program

Call for proposals for new research grants was announced by the AERA Grants Program. Support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) of the Institute of Education Sciences, the AERA Grants aim to stimulate research on U.S. Education Policy and practice using datasets from from the two funding agencies.

August 29, 2008 to be reviewed in September
