June 11: Educational Technologists Forum

Learning Platform and Digital Campus Initiative
Wednesday, June 11, 2008, 3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
402 Walter Library (East Bank)

Join us for the last Educational Technologists Forum (ETF) of the 2007-08 academic year. Come at 3:00 for snacks and conversation with your fellow educational technologists. This time, the topic will be the University of Minnesota Learning Platform and Digital Campus Initiative, two important academic technology projects now under way that will directly affect your work at the University.

The Learning Platform integrates course management systems including Vista, Moodle, and UMConnect; student services information; collaboration tools including wikis, blogs, polls, and discussion boards; news feeds; detailed course information; and e-mail--and displays them in a personalized, user customizable format. The Platform's myLibrary application provides cutting edge features including suggested bibliographic resources based on class schedule, major, or faculty specialization; user customizable lists of favorite sources; and up-to-date reports on library resources that are checked out.

We'll finish with a discussion of the new Digital Campus Initiative and a demonstration of the Initiative's new Web site. The Digital Campus will serve as the gateway to all of the University's digital and distributed educational offerings, from online credit courses to personal and professional development opportunities, available any time, anywhere.

Presenters:
Sandra Ecklein, Office of the Vice Provost for Distributed Education and Instructional Technology
Shane Nackerud, Digital Library Development Lab, University Libraries
