This should be one of the three debated issues. The following is my logic:
-There are multiple viewpoints for each side. Doctors, teachers, students, parents, people who live near campus, legal and police issues, safety, liquor store owners, and some that I may have missed.
-This issue is directly relevant to us as students. Furthermore, most of us are first or second year students and few if any of us are 21. Thus, a decision to allow or prohibit alcohol consumption to those under 21 is of greater concern to us rather then a 30+ year-old lawmaker.
-Lastly, There is a significant amount of literature on the subject, both in medical and scientific journals, and newspaper and magazine coverage.
These three points should make it very clear that this issue must not fall by the wayside, and must be argued before the class.

This topic does have a lot of view points and can be argued either way. There is the whole they can go off to war and vote, why can't they drink argument, plus many more. Also the irresponsibility of kids would play into the argument. I think this topic offers a lot of in depth conversation potential and should be therefore chosen as one of the top three. And as Matt said the arguments can be well researched allowing for great comments and rebuttles.

Both Luke and Matt have great reasoning. I also think that this should be one of the topics of debate. There's just so much to cover and this affects people our age therefore giving us personal experiences to learn from.

I think this is a terrible topic that's beat to death by teenagers everywhere. Most people have their mind already made up on this issue anyway. Yes, it's applicable to "our lives" if you give yourself the alcohol fixation, or the "i'm not creative enough to find alternative ways to have fun other than alcohol". I mean, seriously, can't we think of issues that are more important than if you have to sneak alcohol to get wasted or if you can just purchase it straight up to get wasted?

This would be an excellent topic. I know that I would have some ideas on this question that would spark some debate, and I'm sure everyone else would as well. It is an excellent issue because it would directly affect basically everyone in the class. There are multiple ways to argue for and against lowering drinking age. I just feel that this would be an excellent topic because it is so close to us as students.
